I learned something interesting while on vacation recently. When the tide rolls in, starfish attach themselves to the rocks for feeding. Suddenly, the tide rolls out, but the Starfish are stuck on the rock until the next tide. They are literally stranded, at the mercy of the ocean. Do they worry? Of course not. They just continue to eat, trusting that the tide will eventually roll in and wash them back to sea. I try to remember the Starfish when I feel stuck or unmotivated. I remind myself that my tide will also come back and wash me out to sea again. In the meantime, I must need this "feeding" time to fill me up for the awesome waves ahead. Times of inactivity are needed just as much as times of action and creativity. It's just a matter of learning your own tides and riding them out.
